Creating exciting new rug patterns from your own personal designs or ideas are the most satisfying and typically turn out to be extraordinary when finished with wool and color. I have included a few photos of a recent project to encourage you to begin your own creation. The following method is one process I use to create custom patterns. For repeat patterns I use a light table with a master template. Perfect for your rug hooking group when a design feature repeat is needed. I also offer classes! Original Drawings
Begin by sketching your subjects. Then scan and print the originals so I can cut a template.Plan your layout
Layout your ideas onto the linen to get a feel for the direction you are going. Cut your transfers
Cut inside or outside your lines retaining strategic paper links to hold it together.Transfer your design
Just follow the lines
Use a straight edge to position your transfer.Then hook it!
